Most of us thought the CNN debate in Arizona last week would be the last time the candidates would gather before they insincerely raise hands together at the convention. But it turns out three of them (with Ron Paul still pending) have agreed to particpate in a “forum” on Mike Huckabee’s Fox News show the evening of March 3. That’s the same day as the next reportable contest, a straw poll that accompanies a caucus of Washington State Republicans, and just three days before Super Tuesday.
Given the apocalyptic stakes of Super Tuesday, and the past record of debates in moving the needle of public opinion more significantly than we’ve seen in the past, this could be a wild one, though presumably good behavior will be required of anyone wanting Huck’s endorsement. You have to figure he will enjoy his moment in the media glare more than he would have enjoyed campaigning in this zany contest.
