The University of Colorado at Boulder, apparently worried about criticism that its professors were too liberal (plus, you know, being the site of student events like this) has decided to hire conservative faculty.
Well, one of them. According to a press release by the school:
Steven Hayward has been appointed the first Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy, the University of Colorado Boulder announced today.
Hayward is tentatively scheduled to teach four undergraduate courses, three in political science — Constitutional Law 1 and 2 plus a course in American Political Thought — and one in environmental studies, Free-Market Environmentalism.
Hayward will teach in both fall and spring semesters in 2013-14. Additionally, he will be encouraged to foster discussion by hosting public events in the campus community and perhaps around the state.
It does seem a little ambitious to think that one man can carry the entire load of conservative thought at Boulder, but he’s a very energetic.
Hayward, Thomas W. Smith Distinguished Fellow at the Ashbrook Center at Ashland University in Ohio, previously held positions at American Enterprise Institute and the Heritage Foundation.
Hayward is perhaps best known, however, for his An Inconvenient Truth…Or Convenient Fiction?, a documentary film that served as a “point-by-point PowerPoint rebuttal” of Al Gore’s 2006 movie about global warming, An Inconvenient Truth.
That’s sure to go over super well at the University of Colorado, a school famous for its student environmentalists.
