Day’s End and Weekend Watch

A much longer day than the clock indicated. I won’t get to travel to Atlanta to see my mother on Sunday, but hope you see yours, or at least think about her. And a big collective respectful “thanks” to those of you who are mothers your own selves.

Here are a few final items of the day:

* Leaving a very hot kitchen: Jason Richwine, author of the Heritage Foundation’s increasingly infamous immigration policy report, resigns.

* Glowing review in Wall Street Journal of performance by Greece’s prime minister, Antonis Samaris, a center-right pol who leads a three-party coalition including centre-left and socialists. Article argues he’s eclipsed leftist leader Alexis Tsipras, who was interviewed in the March/April issue of the Monthly.

* TNR publishes fascinating report on D.C. think-tankers who are also lobbyists for private interests.

* At Ten Miles Square, Seth Masket reports on Colorado Republican legislators who worked to craft legalized-marijuana regulations–then voted against them.

* At College Guide, Daniel Luzer reports on the dubious practices of college endowments that are heavily invested in companies involved in student loan servicing and collections.

And in sorta non-political news:

* NBC cancels “Rock Center With Brian Williams,” which got better reviews than ratings.

OK, that’s it for me this week. We’ll have Ryan Cooper at the PA controls on Saturday followed by Sam Knight on Sunday.

To close the day, here are The Drones again, performing the intense 2002 tune “Six Ways To Sunday,” which I suppose most of us have (at least).

Selah.
