* House GOP formally abandons legal defense of remaining statutes discriminating against same-sex marriage partners.
* City of Detroit formally files for Chapter 9 bankruptcy protection.
* Greg Sargent notes new polls showing “path to citizenship” not deal-breaker for large majority of self-identified Republicans.
* At Ten Miles Square, Rob Atkinson argues that high-skill immigration liberalization should not be allowed to die if larger immigration bill expires.
* At College Guide, Daniel Luzer reports San Jose State hitting “pause” button on its much-discussed MOOC experiment.
