There’s a new WaPo/ABC poll out this afternoon focused on Syria which gives Obama relatively low marks on that issue but much better marks overall on national security and his role as commander-in-chief. But having seen about 500 articles about Obama being “played” by Vladimir Putin or exhibiting “weakness” by going along with a diplomatic initiative instead of insisting on missile strikes–I was interested to see what Americans generally think.

Asked about the Russian initiative to “have Syria place all of its chemical weapons under control of the United Nations, which would then destroy them,” Democrats support it 86/12, indies support it 82/16, and–get this–Republicans support it 71/22.

Seems Americans are pretty happy with the idea of getting “played.”
