On this day in 1919, German revolutionary leaders Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg were murdered by right-wing militia members as the Sparticist uprising was brutally suppressed. Here’s the punk band Normahl performing the leftist anthem penned by Bertolt Brecht in Liebknecht and Luxumburg’s memory, “Auf, Auf Zum Kampf” (“Up, Up Let’s Fight”).
