Country music living legend Merle Haggard turns 78 today. Here’s one of his early hits, “I’m a Lonesome Fugitive,” as performed on fellow Bakersfield musician Buck Owens’ Ranch Show in 1966. That’s Bonnie Owens, Buck’s ex and at this point Merle’s new wife, singing harmony. Small world.
