Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys was better known by his stage name “MCA.” He was born in Brooklyn on this day in 1967. Unfortunately, he died of cancer two years ago at the age of forty-seven. I personally never got into the Beastie Boys. I think I was born just a couple years too early to be caught up in that wave. When Yauch died, though, I was amazed at how extensively he had touched the people in my wider social circles. It got me a little curious, so I read up on him and listened to some of his music. He was an interesting guy, and not at all how I imagined him when I was introduced to this:
