SUNY Binghamton, the New York college that recently experienced (caused) all that trouble with a Division I basketball team, now has a new problem: the Greek system.
According to an article by Debbie Swartz in The Press & Sun-Bulletin:
All pledging and recruitment at Binghamton University fraternities and sororities came to an abrupt halt Wednesday after officials received “an alarmingly high number of serious hazing complaints.”
The university declined to add details about the complaints.
“We are talking to our students at this point and will not be providing any additional information at this time,” said BU spokeswoman Gail Glover.
By this action the more than 50 Greek houses on campuses won’t be able to recruit or pledge any new members for the rest of the semester.
Few students at Binghamton are involved in the Greek system. Only 9 percent of men and 10 percent of women are members of fraternizes or sororities. [Image via]
