Well, my experiment of watching (or in some cases, listening to as I type) Fox News is underway, though I haven’t spotted Kirsten Powers yet or heard anything that sounded even vaguely bipartisan. It appears they are about to run a feature on how Obamacare will create major shortages of health care providers. Earlier we were treated to the sage analysis of John Bolton on the Hagel nomination. The weather news, however, seemed pretty “fair and balanced.”
In any event, here are some mid-day news bites:
* Just coincidentally, report out today that Fox News, while still number one in Cable-world, had a major ratings plunge in January, particularly in the 25-54 demographic.
* Virginia state Senate panel formally kills electoral-vote-rigging bill. No word on fate of earlier re-redistricting of staet Senate itself.
* Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick appoints his former chief-of-staff, Mo Cowan, to occupy Kerry U.S. Senate seat until special election (in which he will not compete). For a brief time, we’ll have two African-American Senators (Cowan and SC’s Tim Scott).
* Erick Erickson weighs in against Senate immigration proposal, which he calls “Marco Rubio’s Plan.”
* At Columbia Journalism Review, Anna Clark analyzes regional media coverage of gun issues in the Midwest post-Newtown, and finds it frequently misleading.
