Gotta say, the quantity of writing about the WaPo sale–particularly at WaPo–is pretty astounding. Don’t know if it’s the slow news day or some editorial effort to show the paper’s independence, or some sort of collective mid-life crisis. But nobody’s going to say this story is under-reported.
Here are some non-Bezos midday news and views bites:
* Obama cancels one-on-one meeting with Putin scheduled for next month’s Group of 20 summit in Russia; White House cites Snowden asylum as just of several issues, but that’s what will get all the attention.
* Politico‘s Darren Samuelsohn has a good reported piece on the Pentagon’s terrible record in following up on sexual assault claims.
* TAP’s Abby Rapoport advises Wendy Davis to run for governor of Texas–but to do it the right way, building an infrastructure that could produce victories in the future.
* Boehner goes golfing with The Donald. And he’s supposed to be the Adult in the House GOP.
* Greg Sargent reminds us that while a majority of Americans may say they don’t like Obamacare, they don’t support repealing it, and are open to fixing it.
* Digby coolly assesses John Roberts’ complaints about sequestration impact on judicial branch; wonders if he’s worried about indigent defense cuts.
And in mostly non-political news:
* Dave Weigel reports on the new campaign led by Democratic and Republican political consultants to get Yes inducted into the Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame. I second that emotion.
