As regular readers know, we’re currently running our annual online fundraiser. We only do this once a year, so if you wish to contribute, now’s the time.
There are many excellent reasons to contribute to the Washington Monthly, some of which I mentioned in my previous post on this subject. We’re a not-for-profit organization and we depend on you, our readers, for the support that keeps us going from year to year. Funding institutions that produce serious, progressive writing about politics has always been a struggle — and that was true well before the internet changed the entire economic model of journalism and presented even greater challenges. Happily, we are meeting those challenges, but in order to continue thriving, we need your help. To make a donation, please click here.
Today, I will give you one very specific reason why you should donate. The Washington Monthly website is loaded with great content. We have two political blogs with very distinct identities and concerns; we have the fantastic long-form journalism that appears in the magazine; and finally we have the invaluable College Guide.
Do you ever experieince those late nights when you can’t sleep, and you feel like you’ve reached the end of the internet — visited all your favorite sites and read everything new that’s there? When those times come, and you’re looking for smart, engaging web reading, check out the Monthly’s archives. Trust me, you will not be bored. We have the blog archives, and also features from the magazine going back to 1999, as well as complete issues beginning in 2011. You’ll find a storehouse of fascinating posts and articles by talented writers — many whose names you’ll recognize. The Monthly archives are a treasure trove — and amazingly enough, all that content is still free.
So please do give if you can. Again, here’s the link. Thank you so much.
