There are many excellent reasons to contribute to the Washington Monthly, some of which I mentioned in my previous post on this subject. We’re a not-for-profit organization and we depend on you, our readers, for the support that keeps us going from year to year. Funding institutions that produce serious, progressive writing about politics has always been a struggle — and that was true well before the internet changed the entire economic model of journalism and presented even greater challenges. We have two political blogs with very distinct identities and concerns; we have the fantastic long-form journalism that appears in the magazine; and finally we have the invaluable College Guide.
