On July 3, 1969, the Rolling Stones’ Brian Jones died. On July 3, 1971, the Doors’ Jim Morrison died. We’ll post some videos of both at various points in the day.

Here’s an interesting 1967 recording of Jones (on the sitar, which he played often) with Jimi Hendrix, Dave Mason and Mitch Mitchell performing “Ain’t Nothing Wrong With That” in an informal jam session just after the Monterey Pop Festival (in which Jones was heavily involved) made Hendrix a U.S. star.
