Here we are on the brink of what I have unsuccessfully tried to promote as Thronodic Thursday, and we still have no idea what tomorrow holds for us. But there are some other news items of note:
* My own guide to the Eurozone crisis, The Guardian, predicts a failure in tomorrow’s summit. But low expectations may cushion the immediate market reactions.
* Stockton, California, a really messed up place, files bankruptcy. Expect conservatives to generalize this as the California-Greece-Spain syndrome, ignoring actual facts.
* WaPo’s Jonathan Bernstein suspends poli sci detachment and pundit cynicism to explain exactly why tomorrow’s Court decision really is a huge deal in the real world.
* WaPo refuses to retract Bain outsourcing story despite meeting with, intimidation from, Team Mitt. We’ll see if it affects coverage down the road.
* I’ll just report this headline from a National Geographic Channel survey: “Two-Thirds of Americans Think Barack Obama Is Better Suited to Handle an Alien Invasion Than Mitt Romney.”
*Gotta add this [warning for those with low tolerance for profanity!]: a step-by-step plan from Black Girl Dangerous on how to pursue a reverse-racist agenda.
And in non-political news:
* Official song for London Olympics revealed.
So we will all gird up our loins for tomorrow.
Selah.
