Everybody, it seems, is getting in on the centennial of the sinking of the Titanic. Even the Christian Right, as illustrated by this trailer for a new feature film from Truth in Action Ministeries (h/t Brian Tashman of RightWingWatch):
I don’t know what’s more startling about this trailer: the panoply of big-time Christian Right figures like Richard Land and Harry Jackson, or the tortured iceberg analogies in which the “Radical Homosexual Agenda” is the deadly, lurking threat to the Good Ship America. Like a lot of Christian conservative gabbers these days, the talking heads in this drama effortlessly glide from plain-spoken bigotry to complaints they are being persecuted. Indeed, we are told that the RHA will soon be enforced by criminal statutes, and before long, the U.S. military!
If this all seems a tad alarmist, well, you don’t understand how icebergs operate, do you?
