MIERS AND THE BASE….I have to admit: conservatives really do have plenty of reasons to be suspicious of Harriet Miers. Here’s an incomplete list:

Supports gay adoption and the establishment of an International Criminal Court. (At least, she chaired a committee that wrote a report with those recommendations. Given her lack of a paper trail, that’s probably about as close as we’re going to get to figuring out what she believes in.)

Used to be a Democrat. (But a “conservative Democrat.”)

Contributed money to Al Gore, Lloyd Bentsen, and the DNC in the late 80s.

Has a long history of activity with the ABA, not exactly an organization held in high esteem by conservatives.
As near as I can tell, this really is a nomination that conservatives have to take on faith. I guess if I were a conservative, I’d be pretty peeved too.
