BIG RESULTS FROM THE 8 O’CLOCK HOUR…. First, the non-suprises. The networks have called Illinois, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Maryland, Connecticut, Maine, Delaware, and District of Columbia for Obama. The networks have called also Tennessee and Oklahoma and McCain.

Second, New Hampshire was a key McCain target, with a deep history of ties with the candidate, but at least MSNBC has also called the state for Obama.

And third, both MSNBC and ABC have called Pennsylvania for Obama. Obviously, the Keystone State was a critical part of McCain’s strategy, and according to the networks, it’s staying “blue.” This closes a key avenue for McCain, and makes his road to 270 that much more difficult.

Chris Matthews told viewers that McCain’s strategy has “crashed,” but Rachel Maddow emphasized a key point that shouldn’t go overlooked: Obama hasn’t flipped any “blue” states yet. Stay tuned.
