POLL QUESTIONS ONLY THE RNC COULD LOVE…. The Republican National Committee emailed a “domestic agenda” survey to its supporters this week. It’s not a genuine survey, of course — fake member polls like these are just fundraising gimmicks — but the wording of the questions was nevertheless hilarious. (thanks to reader C.R. for the tip)

There are a lot of gems, but these were some of my favorites:

* “Do you agree with Barack Obama and the Democrats that taxes should be raised for the sake of ‘fairness,’ regardless of the negative impact it is likely to have on the economy?”

* “Are you in favor of granting retroactive Social Security eligibility to illegal immigrants who gain U.S. citizenship through an amnesty program?”

* “Are you in favor of the expanded welfare benefits and unlimited eligibility (no time, education or work requirements) that Democrats in Congress are pushing to pass?”

* “Do you agree with Barack Obama that empathy, and not impartiality and the rule of law, should be a judge’s guiding factor when deciding a case?”

* “Do you support creation of a national health insurance plan that would be administered by bureaucrats in Washington, D.C.?”

* “Are you in favor of a Cap-and-Trade system on greenhouse gas emissions that will lead to a National Energy Tax that could cost American businesses and families up to $2 trillion and cause massive job losses?”

Remember, these are the actual survey questions, exactly as they appeared in the original, not paraphrases intended to make the RNC appear silly. Respondents are given a choice between “yes,” “no,” and “no opinion” — as if the questions didn’t point to the desired response (and as if the RNC is actually prepared to tally the responses.)

Reading through it, I tried to imagine the loyal Republican activist who not only received this obviously-bogus “survey,” but who also took it seriously enough to answer all of the questions.

Scary thought.
