According to a study published recently by the National Bureau of Economic Research, college students who regularly binge drink (have five or more drinks in an evening) are more likely to have hazardous sex. While this is maybe not a huge surprise (sky blue, report says, right?) it’s a little more complicated. The study, “Binge Drinking and Risky Sex among College Students,” by University of Texas at Arlington economics professor Jeffrey DeSimone, didn’t actually indicate that heavy drinkers had more sex; they just had sex with more people.

One suspects that the relationship between alcohol and number of sexual partners breaks down once people leave college. The study also indicated that the drinking-many sexual partners relationship is strongest among traditional males. “The effects were… least apparent among students at two-year colleges.” Well, now we’ve got proof.[Image via]
