THEY’RE NOT LAUGHING WITH HIM…. Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.) appeared on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” earlier, and took a predictably far-right line on immigration policy. But of particular interest was Shadegg’s reaction to Sen. John McCain’s (R) latest campaign ad, which we talked about the other day.

This clip is worth watching — it’s only about a minute long — just to see the looks on the guests’ and hosts’ faces. They showed McCain’s ad, in its entirety, but when they came back to talk about it, both Shadegg and Joe Scarborough were literally laughing at what they’d seen.

Eventually, Shadegg said, “It seems like some politicians have kind of changed ground on this issue.” Under the circumstances, that’s putting it mildly.

This probably isn’t a good sign for McCain. Scarborough is a conservative former congressman, and Shadegg is a conservative lawmaker who endorsed McCain’s re-election. If they can’t watch his commercial without laughing, I wonder what Republican primary voters are thinking.
