QUOTE OF THE DAY…. Some folks have a one-track mind.

Sen. Jim Bunning (R-Ky.) on Wednesday praised New York Yankee owner George Steinbrenner for passing away in 2010 when there is no estate tax.

“Because he was smart enough to die in 2010, there is zero tax liability on the estate tax,” he said.

And to think the Senate will be deprived of Bunning’s wisdom next year.

Speaking of the estate tax, Sens. Blanche Lincoln (D-Ark.) and Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) continue to go to bat for billionaires, and are pushing a revamped proposal that would phase in exemptions over the next decade. The goal is “to make the short-term cost of the bill appear smaller.”

I feel better already.

How would Kyl and Lincoln pay for the tax break that benefits the wealthiest of the wealthy? They wouldn’t. As Kyl has made clear, conservatives believe paying for tax cuts is pointless.
