Despite attempts to push electronic books on college students, the books remain relatively unpopular. Most college kids, apparently, still prefer real books.

Publishers figure that maybe it’s because aren’t edgy enough, or something. And so Course Smart, a company created by textbook publishers to sell electronic textbooks to students on a subscription basis, has partnered with CollegeHumor.com, a comedy website, to try to make students think electric textbooks are cool.

Students are invited to write an essay about how they cut corners in college. According to the contest:

We want to hear the story of the smartest, cleverest, most creative academic shortcut you’ve ever taken. You can submit your story below – the winner gets $1,000 CASH. They [sic]will also snag a year’s supply of free eTextbooks from CourseSmart, AND will have their story turned into an animated video on CollegeHumor! Enter now!

I sort of feel like a smart slacker wouldn’t actually bother to enter the essay contest, but whatever. The competition ends February 7.
