March Math Madness

Earlier this week, in recognition of Pi Day, the an unofficial holiday on March 14 commemorating the mathematical constant π (pi), the math team at Brigham Young University produced a video to commemorate the holiday, and sort of itself.

Screaming fans cheer Mathletes with enthusiasm: “the BYU Mathletes are coming after ya / When they walk by don’t do the wave do the parabola.”

It’s not exactly the catchiest jingle ever, but it’s sort of entertaining how they put it all together.

The BYU math team apparently ranked among the top 25 nationally in 2009.

Meanwhile, back in actual March Madness, BYU’s basketball team lost to Marquette University yesterday 68 to 88.
