A Minimalist Endorsement

A new addition to the “You Can’t Make This Stuff Up” files today:

Mitt Romney has the support of George W. Bush.

“I’m for Mitt Romney,” Bush told ABC News this morning as the doors of an elevator closed on him, after he gave a speech on human rights a block from his old home — the White House.

You have to wonder if Team Romney planned this moment. What better means could you devise to get the inevitable W. endorsement out of the way while avoiding those pesky follow-up questions, not to mention useful video footage for the opposition?

Now if they can just get Dick Cheney to phone in an endorsement for Mitt on a bad cellphone connection….
