Event Video: Making College Cheaper and Better

Recently we had an event at the New America foundation. The panelists included: Stephen Burd, a New America scholar, who explained his plan for abolishing the student loan repo man by adopting student loan repayment policies from Australia and the U.K.; New America education policy program director Kevin Carey, who discussed his recent tour through the new batch of West Coast higher ed tech start-ups; our Editor-in-chief Paul Glastris, who explained our alternative college rankings, including a new measure that identifies colleges that do the best job of graduating students at the lowest price; and finally Robert Gaines, the Special Assistant to the Chancellor at Elizabeth City State University, explained how his school received the number one ranking among baccalaureate colleges.
