The University of Google Ads?

Ever wonder why you hear so much about the University of Phoenix?

The for-profit institution of higher learning wholly owned by the Apollo Group is a big institution, for sure—with almost 400,000 students, it’s one of the largest colleges in America—but that’s not the only reason you seem to hear about it everywhere these days.

According to an article by Jim Edwards at Business Insider, Phoenix is Google’s biggest advertiser. The institution spent almost $170,000 a day on Google advertising in 2012. The next biggest Google advertisers were Ask.com, Amazon.com, Zappos.com, Hotels.com, and Geico.
