Forty-six years ago today, the Monterey Pop Festival came to a close. Though not as large or iconic as Woodstock, Monterey Pop may have produced better music, and created quite a few superstars. I’ll be posting videos from this event all day, beginning with Janis Joplin and Big Brother and the Holding Company covering Big Mama Thornton’s “Ball and Chain.”
