Got so attached to the little Chromebook while traveling that I haven’t switched back to the iMac. But I fear the desktop will jealously punish me for blogging around, so that’s where I’ll be tomorrow.

* House passes omnibus appropriations bill, with 3 Democrats and 64 Republicans voting “no.” We’ll look at the GOP dissenters in more detail tomorrow.
* In FL, former congressional staffer & lobbyist David Jolly wins GOP primary to face Dem Alex Sink in March special election to replace late Bill Young in House. Sink actually favored.
* House Liberty Caucus formed by Rep. Justin Amash on grounds that House Republican Study Committee has gone all squishy.
* Former federal prosecutor who led the investigation of Blago chosen by New Jersey legislature to investigate BridgeGate.
* At Ten Miles Square, Mark Kleiman looks at latest public opinion research on cannabis legalization, and finds majority supporting legalization steady but not deep.
* At College Guide, Robert Kelchen calls on (at least as an experiment) elite universities to randomize admissions from their pools of highly qualified candidates.
And in sorta non-political news:
* New study suggests Alexander the Great died at 33 from drinking poisoned wine.
