Just have to love this question posed by the Daily Caller‘s Matt Lewis in a column for The Week, mentioning the Heritage Foundation’s new journalistic venture:
[F]or this to work, Heritage will have to build a firewall, giving the news folks carte blanche authority to report the news as they see fit. Can an organization headed by Jim DeMint — with an activist arm (HeritageAction) that helped force a shutdown over defunding ObamaCare — also be able to run a fair, objective news outlet?
Before answering that tough question, keep in mind that DeMint is the king of “constitutional conservatives,” who generally think most policy questions were resolved once and forever more by the dawn of the nineteenth century, with just a minor adjustment needed for that human bondage problem.
Within those confines, I’m sure Heritage’s new journalists will be perfectly objective about chronicling the ongoing American debate over whether to go back to The Truth or decline hellwards.
