On August 23, 2008, Madonna’s Sticky & Sweet Tour commenced in Cardiff, Wales. The tour featured a video segment entitled “Get Stupid,” in which Madonna condemned the role hyper-consumerism played in fueling the climate crisis, and the scourge of right-wing political extremism as represented by such figures as Mike Huckabee and John McCain.
