WEASELING ON TORTURE….Did Condoleezza Rice really say that the United States considers itself obligated not to torture prisoners under its control? Eric Umansky unpacks her statement on Wednesday and says the answer is no ? at least not if you’re talking about foreigners abroad or prisons outside of territory under U.S. jurisdiction. In other words, all the actual real-world cases that anyone cares about.
