In about an hour or so, the six remaining Republican presidential candidates will take the stage in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for yet another debate, this one on Fox News. It will be the first debate with only five candidates, and it takes place just five days before the South Carolina primary.

Common sense suggests the field will be eager to tear down the GOP frontrunner and presumptive nominee, but then again, we’ve thought that before. In case these guys need a reminder, they’re very nearly out of time, and the race is, by most measures, over. If the non-Romney candidates look at these debates as an opportunity to shake up the race, another kid-gloves affair will represent another lost opportunity.

On an unrelated note, if the Republican field tries to make up for having a debate on the Dr. King holiday by making any claims whatsoever to the MLK legacy, I may become physically ill.

I’ll probably have some thoughts on the debate in the morning. In the meantime, the floor is yours.
