I somehow missed that yesterday was Keith Richards’ 70th birthday. Well, he’s the ultimate role model for all those hoping they can outlive the actuarial predictions their behavior has invited. And I have to say, having read his memoir, Life, on airplanes last year, the old rocker (or the ghostwriter he was smart enough to hire) has quite a sense of humor and perspective.
So here in his belated honor is Nils Lofgren with his 1977 tribute to Richards, “Keith Don’t Go,” written back when it looked like he was headed for hard time or the dustbin. Last laugh and all that.
