I have a class to teach tonight at church, so I’m happy to be finishing up the 12 posts a bit earlier than is usual. Could even grab a power nap, which us old folks adore.

Here are some remains of the day:

* Marco Rubio, now well into his attempted “comeback,” delivers a Great Big National Press Club Speech on retirement security. More about that tomorrow.

* Jill Abramson abruptly fired as Executive Editor of the New York Times. I’m sure the ever-chatty Timesmen will let us know exactly why directly.

* At the New Yorker, fascinating interview with Peggy McIntosh, who wrote a pioneering paper in 1988 about white male privilege, an idea that is newly controversial at the moment.

* At Ten Miles Square, Keith Humphrey examines the Affordable Care Act as the capstone of three big laws that have transformed mental health insurance.

* At College Guide, Daniel Luzer reports that University of North Dakota students mourning the loss of their “Fighting Sioux” mascot are not helping matters with their offensive reactions.

And in non-political news:

* Fans and critics get first look at designs for the Atlanta Braves’ new suburban stadium.

That’s it for Hump Day. To close the day, here’s Walter Trout with John Mayall performing “Rolling With the Blues” at Iowa State University in 1987.
