Super Tuesday wasn’t so super for those of us dealing with a column deadline last night and having to figure out how many precincts were still out in Hinds County. As usual, the Daily Kos Elections team was all over that and a hundred other races. But sometimes you just have to wait.
Here are some post-election midday news and views items all fresh from the oven:
* There’s a roundtable of very notable commentators up at The Democratic Strategist site discussing the future of the white working class vote, in conjunction with articles soon to appear in the next issue of WaMo. Much more about that later.
* NRA walks back comments calling Texans appearing with long guns at restaurants to protest restrictions on open carry rights “weird.” Can’t bite the hand that feeds, Wayne.
* Among primary races still hanging fire today is CA-33, Henry Waxman’s seat, where Ted Lieu and Wendy Greuel are still battling for a general election spot against Republican Elan Carr. Whichever Dem makes the general will be heavily favored.
* In Alabama, famed wingnut viral video star Dale Peterson makes GOP runoff for State Auditor.
* Head of anti-secessionist campaign in Scotland warns September vote on Scottish independence will be very close.
And in non-political news:
* A look back at Xmas Eve 1994, when both the Raiders and Rams played their last games in Los Angeles.
