There is a hyper-aggressive segment of reactionary authoritarians driven by race resentment in America, and it’s a bigger group than most people realize or want to admit.
The counter protesters in Ferguson have been portrayed in the media as mostly reasonable supporters of law enforcement. They don’t appear to be white supremacists or militia members.
But when you’re shouting “Shoot! Shoot!” in reaction to “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot!” it hardly matters how you present yourself or whether you have connections to extremist groups. The base id behind that sentiment is just as ugly.
