Eddy Grant was born in Guyana on this day in 1948 (making him one day younger than Chris Squire) but moved to the UK as a child. As the proponent of a syncretic style of Caribbean music he called Ringbang, Grant spent a good deal of time in recent years reformatting his earlier pop hits, like this one: “Electric Avenue,” performed live in Capetown.
