It’s the 78th birthday for the occasional but very distinguished Washingtonian Roberta Flack. Here she is performing “Some Gospel According to Matthew,” a song that nicely combines her many musical influences.

UPDATE: Commenter kendoran is right: I put in the wrong month in searching This Day in Music yesterday. But we didn’t commemorate Roberta Flack in February, so I guess there’s no harm. And this is obviously just the first of my mistakes today: I seriously overslept on a work day for the first time in years. Ugh, sorry about that.
