More Catholic Than the Pope

One of the many indignities to people of Christian faith that occurred last week–Holy Week, as it happened–was, of course, the “framework understanding” on the Iran nuclear program. What a terrible insult to Christians’ apocalyptic help-meet, Israel! What a monstrous boon the secular socialist Barack Obama gave to the anti-Christian Muslims of Tehran! No wonder the Supreme Pontiff of the Roman Catholic Church said this (per Bloomberg Politics‘ David Knowles) of the agreement during his Easter Message:

Delivering his Easter message from St. Peter’s Basilica at the Vatican Sunday, the pope gave his backing to the nuclear deal reached between Iran, the United States, China, Russia, France, the United Kingdom and Germany.

“In hope we entrust to the merciful Lord the framework recently agreed to in Lausanne, that it may be a definitive step toward a more secure and fraternal world,” the pope told the throngs of followers gathered in the rain.

Wait, what was that?

Every day, you figure the odds go up that some conservative politician like Rick Santorum or Bobby Jindal is going to come right out and claim to be more Catholic than the Pope.
