Not that he probably noticed, but I taunted Erick Erickson a bit yesterday because it’s reasonably clear congressional Republicans are ignoring his ultimatum to shut down the federal government over funding for Planned Parenthood or he and “the base” would destroy the party pronto.

Now Erick’s out with another thundering attack on his party for failing to destroy Planned Parenthood or keep its various promises to the base, and naming Donald Trump as sort of the base’s scourge. But having worked himself up to a mighty anathema under the headline “RIP GOP,” here’s how he concludes:

The only way to save the GOP is for it to elect an outsider as its presidential nominee who can lead the party in a fight against the president and the moral evils of the age.

Translation: at some point I’m going to pick a presidential candidate and you’d better nominate him!

It will be fun to watch Erickson crawl back onto the party bandwagon if this latest rather non-immediate threat fails to work.
