We’ve talked internally about doing some Google “Hangout” sessions here at PA. It’s basically a way to livestream video discussions in a format that looks and feels a lot like one of those TV panel gabfests, with the file then automatically uploaded to YouTube. So we could put together sessions with guest “panelists” whose views you might enjoy, and mix it up, and perhaps enable readers to toss in questions as well.
So day before yesterday I was asked to participate in a HuffPost Live “Hangout” to discuss a David Brooks column on a supposed “Neocon Revival” I had written about, along with Jamie Weinstein of the Daily Caller, Clemson professor C. Bradley Thompson, and libertarian blogger Lucy Stag. James Poulos, recently described by Ryan Cooper as “the strangest member of the [conservative] reformist caucus,” was the moderator.
It was interesting, and although the conversation might have been a bit livelier had an actual neocon participated, and I struggled with a disconcerting habit of leaning too close to the webcam, these are the kind of issues we could probably avoid at PA. You can watch some of the “Hangout” below–or not–but we’re interested to learn if this is the kind of thing you’d like us to try here.
